The youth precinct is a 6.4 hectare district in Alexandra Township in Johannesburg, South Africa. Bound north and south by Ring Road and London Road, and east and west by 11th street and 13th street. The precinct includes three community centers, four public schools, three-day care facilities, two football pitches, basketball courts, and a skate park.

Despite such a special emphasis on public programming, each facility was developed independently. Little consideration has been given to the precinct planning as a unified whole, including its function, circulation strategy or efficiency as a public realm. The proposal examines the social and spatial conditions of the precinct and proposes user-generated design solutions.
